Mary PatersonMary Paterson is a writer and curator who works across visual art, text and performance. Mary’s writing practice is driven by collaboration and dialogue, and operates between criticism, poetry and creative non-fiction. She is the co-founder of Open Dialogues, a writing collaboration which produces writing on and as performance. Mary has developed work with and for international partners including Artsadmin, Fabrica, Haranczak Navarre Projects, the Live Art Development Agency, PERFORMA, Rajni Shah Projects, Samtalokokkenet, Showtime and SPILL. Recent and forthcoming publications include Dear Stranger, I Love You (Live Art Development Agency and Lancaster University), SO (Lemon Melon) and NOTA (Open Dialogues). Her current research pursues the relationships between walking, sensation and perception, made recently manifest in ‘A Travelling Lighthouse’ (2015), a series of audience-led walks commissioned by Wellcome Collection. Mary’s curating practice is informed by the politics of social engagement. Significant projects include devising the live art festival Encounter (North Kent), and opening the Borough Road Gallery at London South Bank University. |
